Learn More About Founder, Ami Reiss:

Q: What makes the Reiss Management approach to real estate unique?

A: Neighborhoods are what make a city, and that is why Ami Reiss views the Montreal real estate market as not one macro economic unit, but rather a mosaic of communities, each with its own special style and people. Laval is a great example, where Reiss Management has deep roots in the community, and as a result has been able to meet the housing needs of hundreds of families and professionals who seek great value and top quality is a comfortable location.

Ami was born and raised in Montreal, and loves the people, culture, communities and spirit of the city. He knows that the city is only as great as its neighborhoods, and the diversity of these neighborhoods not only makes the metropolitan area extraordinary, but also makes investing in, developing and managing rental units for the people of Montreal thoroughly rewarding.

His expertise and commitment to Montreal have made him a real estate thought-leader and authority, trusted by tenants, landlords, owners, investors and building managers throughout the metropolitan area.

Q: Why did Ami Reiss establish Reiss Management?

A: Soon after Ami Reiss entered the real estate business as an independent professional, he accumulated a substantial portfolio of properties across Montreal. At that point, it was important to create a company to handle the management of all of these assets.  Each property in the portfolio is owned by distinct companies, with Reiss Management serving as a central entity connecting the assets and consolidating resources. This allows for economies of scale and increased efficiency.

Q: How else is Ami Reiss involved in the community?

A: Beyond developing quality properties in Montreal, Ami Reiss works through his charitable foundation to support a range of worthy causes. The Ami Reiss Charitable Foundation focuses on six pillars of philanthropy: Schools, medical organizations, synagogues, federations, food banks and special needs organizations.

Students at Hebrew Academy and Yeshiva Aderes are today benefiting from the generosity of the Ami Reiss Charitable Foundation. Hatzolo Vefuah and V’Chesed are receiving the resources they need to treat the sick, research cures and improve the health of the community. The Family Store in Montreal is able to distribute food to hundreds of desperate people in need, in part because of donations from the Ami Reiss Charitable Foundation.

Ami Reiss also contributes to the Combined Jewish Appeal, as well as the Montreal Torah Center, Kollel Keser Torar, Biet Chabbad, Cabad TMR and the Chai Center. And The Friendship Circle and Camp HASC are two organizations focusing on special needs children that are enthusiastically supported by Ami and his foundation.

Q: What motivated Ami Reiss to establish his charitable foundation?

A: As a community leader who deals with property and people on a daily basis, Ami Reiss knows the community, sees the hardships, and has learned throughout his professional career how to efficiently target resources to effectively address social issues.

He knows that education and faith provide strong support to individuals and families, giving people the skills and inspiration to rise from their circumstances. He knows that food and medicine are basic rights for all people, or should be. And he believes that no one in Canada should ever go hungry, or lack the medicine and care they need. In addition, Ami Reiss knows that some children need a higher level of assistance and attention, which is why special needs charities are a central focus of his charitable outreach.

As an Orthodox Jew committed to values predicated on the Torah, Ami Reiss studies the foundational texts of his faith every day, and strives to put these core beliefs into practice in his daily life. This tradition and set of principles is the compass he uses to find purpose and inspiration. Charitable giving, or Tzedaka as it is called in Hebrew, is a fundamental pillar of the teachings in the Torah, and is a core element of who Ami Reiss is, and who he strives to be. He passionately believes that giving is a reflection of not just what we believe, but also who we are.
